| | ARCADE FIRE - THE WILDERNESS DOWNTOWN FILM - DIR. CHRIS MILK
Arcade Fire continues to push the envelope for music videos by redefining what that medium should be going forward. They did it with some excellent, groundbreaking work to promote Neon Bible. We might have a personal bias but music videos are more important now than ever before; whether you are an unknown band or for more established bands that need to generate excitement for a new album you need to generate video content*. Dir. Chris Milk has created a personal experience by asking the user to enter the home address of the childhood before the start of the video and then the video molds itself around Google-powered satellite imagery. Like their music, this can be a very personal experience to the listener/viewer, especially if you had your share of the suburban existentialist dilemma. Or if you are part of the fucktard, negative-nancypants out there you'll quickly dismiss it. We hope you'll enjoy. And if you are curious in seeing a version of The Wilderness Downtown for Video Militia's founder go here. *If only labels would stop thinking about them as something they can sell for .99 cents on Amazon and more like an advertisement (which has always been the impetus for music videos anyway), or as Arcade Fire has done, a way to interact with your listeners at a very personal level.

Amazing what simple, yet creative, storytelling can do. This piece titled "Words" was made to promote NPR and Radiolab's "Words" episode. It was directed by directors Will Hoffman and Daniel Mercadante of Everynone.
